2011 Leadership in Sustainability Awards

The Leadership Institute for Ecology and the Economy held its third annual Leadership in Sustainability Awards dinner in Windsor, California, on Saturday, November 5th, 2011.

The awards dinner is the North Bay’s premier who’s who gathering of civic, business, and local leaders and supporters committed to sustainability.  Leadership Institute’s Executive Director, Tanya Narath, commented “Due to its exceptional theme, impressive sustainability efforts, and celebratory spirit, the affair draws a powerhouse of attendees and significant publicity each year.”

This year’s keynote speaker was Jakada Imani, Executive Director of the Ella Baker Center for Human Rights of Oakland.  He was chosen to highlight the importance of equity in the 3 pillars of the sustainability equation that the Leadership Institute promotes: economical, ecological and equitable.

The purpose of the Leadership in Sustainability Awards is to recognize community leaders who have displayed remarkable achievement or inspiration in our goal of creating a socially, economically and environmentally sustainable community.
