Marie I. Gil, Director

Marie is a passionate executive level professional and community leader who has excelled at applying her innovative business and management skills to achieving the social missions of public and nonprofit organizations since 1991. She is driven by her belief that “sustained human development requires intentional community development” and a vision of a society where all people have access to health, education and employment/business opportunities.

Marie has been building community linkages through collaborative partnerships with public, private and nonprofit organizations and has been instrumental in bridging the gap between the community and socio-economic institutions including health and human service agencies, educational systems, law enforcement and legal justice agencies.

Marie’s work in the health and human services arena in Sonoma County has helped to create equitable socio-economic environments for thousands of disadvantaged youth and families. Her entrepreneurial approach to addressing social justice issues has greately impacted the community at-large.

Marie is a hands-on leader who brings forth shovel-ready ideas to the decision-making table as a participatory agent to boost a solvent economy, create a healthy environment and promote equitable institutions. She is skilled in procuring resources to support the development of new programs and has a keen capacity to mobilize diverse partnerships in support of key advocacy initiatives. In addition, she has been instrumental in building effective system models within the public and nonprofit sectors and has been a catalyzing force behind several grass-roots coalitions and annual community events.

Marie is a collaborative advisor to local governments and a private consultant to organizations looking to strengthen their capacity to serve people of color and actively volunteers to build community bridges toward cultural competency
